A crash and a security cordon disrupted the E25 south of Liège as Belgian media reported an unverified threat involving a weapon and explosives.
Review information is loading.
A traffic notice from Liège’s emergency dispatch centre recorded a crash involving two cars on the E25 near Sprimont on 17 October. It said the motorway was closed in both directions and listed a diversion through Sprimont and Aywaille. The notice was last updated at 10.54am, so it does not establish whether the road remains closed. [1]
The ANP news agency, citing Belgian outlets RTBF and SudInfo, reported that other road users had been evacuated. RTL Infos said motorists within the cordon had been asked to leave their vehicles. [2] [3]
Sprimont’s mayor, Luc Delvaux, told RTBF that the driver said he had a weapon and explosives and had allegedly threatened to blow up his car, according to ANP. RTL Infos reported that police had confirmed a security cordon but, at 12.40pm, had not commented on the precise nature of the incident. The reports do not establish whether the driver had a weapon or explosives. [2] [3]
