Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian “Bash” Croft have won the second series of The Celebrity Traitors, sharing an £83,000 prize between two refugee charities after helping banish the remaining traitors in Friday’s final.
The comedian and Heartstopper actor were the last players standing after a tense endgame in which YouTuber King Kenny was voted out, followed by singer James Blunt. Love Island presenter Maya Jama had also been banished earlier in the final.
Kenny reached the endgame alongside Ranganathan, Croft and Blunt after turning against Jama at the last round table. When Blunt and Kenny tied in a vote over who was a traitor, Croft persuaded Ranganathan to vote for Kenny. Blunt then chose to banish again when the final three were asked whether to end the game, while Ranganathan and Croft chose to stop — leaving the pair as winners.
Ranganathan and Croft will divide their winnings between the Refugee Council and Choose Love. “This might actually be the best day of my life,” Croft said through tears. Ranganathan said he hoped his mother and youngest son, Charlie, would be proud.
The final episode began with seven contestants. Actor Michael Sheen was eliminated first, and Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock was banished during the endgame after Kenny voted against her.
The series had more than 15 million viewers tuning in, according to the BBC. Its final episode followed a run marked by two unusual admissions: Richard E Grant revealed he had been chosen as a traitor, while James Acaster gave himself up at the round table in Thursday’s penultimate episode.
The BBC said contestants are closely monitored and supported by production, including a dedicated welfare team, after reports that filming around Acaster’s admission was paused while welfare staff checked on him.
