An 8-0 first-leg win reported by ANP puts the Netherlands women in a strong position against Hungary, but the agency says another play-off round would follow if they advance.

The Netherlands women beat Hungary 8-0 in the first leg of their World Cup play-off in Felcsút, according to Dutch news agency ANP. They led 4-0 at half-time; the agency described the result as their biggest win under coach Arjan Veurink. [1]
The return match is scheduled for Tuesday in Tilburg, with the winner of the tie due to face Turkey or Slovenia in a second play-off round later this year. The Netherlands would also need to win that next round to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. [1]
