Dutch state secretary for emancipation Judith Tielen says much more must be done to stop violence against women. Responding to research on women’s emancipation by the universities of Amsterdam and Tilburg, she expressed deep concern about the attitudes at issue. She argued that such views contribute to violence against women beginning and continuing, ANP reported. [1]
The Dutch government is working with civil-society initiatives to tackle the problem. Tielen said that work must continue in the face of what she described as strong opposition from international conservative currents, including the manosphere. [1]
Tielen is also commissioning research into the spread and impact of anti-gender narratives, and how they relate to the manosphere and other extremist movements, including religious ones. [1]
