Ridley Scott and screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski are working on an eighth *Alien* film, although Scott is not currently expected to direct it, according to Nieuws.nl’s report of a story by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film’s place in the series’ timeline has not been established. Sources close to the project cited by Nieuws.nl say it is intended to connect with *Prometheus* and *Alien: Covenant*, the two *Alien* films Scott directed in 2012 and 2017.
Scott, 88, directed the original *Alien* in 1979. The most recent film in the series, *Alien: Romulus*, was released in 2024. Guzikowski previously wrote the screenplays for *Contraband*, *Prisoners* and *Papillon*, and worked with Scott on the HBO series *Raised by Wolves*.
It is not yet clear whether Michael Fassbender will return. He played an android in both *Prometheus* and *Alien: Covenant*.
