Harry and Meghan return to Nottingham for charity visits without royal status

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Nottingham for a day of charity visits, drawing crowds and media attention in an appearance that echoed their first joint visit there in 2017. But the event was not an official royal engagement: Buckingham Palace regards the couple as private citizens, the BBC’s royal correspondent Daniela Relph reported. [1]

Harry and Meghan met charity workers and volunteers, joined in activities including baking and basketball, and spoke with people during walkabouts. Relph described the day as carefully organised, with a shared media pool distributing photographs and video. She said the crowds she saw were largely young and diverse.

The visit marked Meghan’s first day of events of this kind on British soil for several years. People close to her told Relph she was keen to meet the public and was not nervous about the reception. [1]

The BBC said the couple’s joint appearances in the UK would be occasional, as they pursue separate interests. Their representatives said Meghan was planning a UK version of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, possibly before Christmas. [1]
