The Dutch presenter’s new series will examine research into Parkinson’s disease and pesticides after her younger brother’s diagnosis.
Dutch broadcaster KRO-NCRV has announced that presenter Yvon Jaspers is making a two-part programme about possible causes of Parkinson’s disease, Nieuws.nl reports. Her younger brother was diagnosed in 2024, aged 40, giving the project a personal starting point. [1]
The programme, De boer, de broer, de zus en de ziekte, is scheduled for Sunday 11 October. Jaspers plans to examine research into a possible link between crop-protection products and Parkinson’s, and speak with doctors, farmers, local residents, researchers and her family. She has visited farms for more than 20 years through Boer zoekt vrouw; her brother is not a farmer. [1]
Jaspers says her brother’s diagnosis prompted questions for her about a possible link between pesticides and Parkinson’s. She hopes the programme will encourage awareness and an open discussion of a complex issue. [1]
