The 2026 Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal will be broadcast live from Utrecht Central Library on 21 November, with 30 contestants taking part in the annual Dutch spelling competition.
Broadcaster KRO-NCRV announced that the event will be available on NPO Radio 1 and YouTube. The contestants will include 15 well-known Dutch people and 15 listeners to the radio programme De Taalstaat.
Comedian and writer Ronald Giphart will present the contest for the first time, taking over from Frits Spits. Linguist and comedian Wim Daniëls has written the dictation, which former House of Representatives speaker Gerdi Verbeet will read aloud.
Among the announced contestants are state secretary Judith Thielen, comedian Andries Tunru, children’s author Annet Schaap and food journalist Joël Broekaert. The event is organised by NPO Radio 1 with De Taalstaat, the Dutch language society Onze Taal and production company Men at Work.
