A planned overhaul of the Netherlands’ box 3 tax and other changes will absorb almost all newly available tax authority IT capacity for two years, Eelco Eerenberg says.
Dutch state secretary Eelco Eerenberg told parliament on Wednesday that almost all IT capacity becoming available at the tax authority over the next two years would be needed for a planned box 3 tax on gains and other changes the government wants to make. Asked about other IT projects, he said 2029 was the earliest point at which he could see room opening up. [1]
The planned tax would cover gains from savings, shares and property. According to ANP, the government has previously warned that introducing it would demand substantial work from the tax authority. Eerenberg also warned that implementation would be bumpy. [1]
Even then, Eerenberg expects more box 3 work: the plan is to tax gains on other assets, such as cryptocurrency and art, from 2030. [1]
