Telecoms company Odido is to become wholly owned by Apax Partners after the investment firm agreed to buy out co-owner Warburg Pincus. The companies have not disclosed the price, and the deal still requires regulatory approval. [1]
Odido, which also owns the Ben and Simpel brands, has been jointly owned since Apax and Warburg bought T-Mobile Netherlands from Deutsche Telekom and Tele2 in 2021 for €5.1 billion. The business was renamed Odido in 2023. [1]
The Financial Times recently reported, citing people familiar with the matter, that the deal valued Odido at €6.5 billion. That figure has not been confirmed by the companies, which declined to give financial details. [1]
Earlier this year, rumours of a possible stock-market listing were reported to have been dropped amid concerns about market volatility, according to the Financial Times. Odido was later hit by a cyberattack in which the personal data of millions of customers appeared online. [1]
