Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier have received 26- and 19-year prison sentences for the 2022 killing of Federico Martin Aramburu in Paris.
Review information is loading.
The killing took place in the early hours of 19 March 2022, after an alcohol-fuelled altercation at a Paris brasserie. Le Priol fired the two fatal shots, while Bouvier fired first at Aramburu, who was unarmed, the court’s presiding judge said, as reported by AFP. [1]
The Paris assize court found that the men intended to kill Aramburu but did not find that the murder was premeditated. Both men had argued that they acted in self-defence against Aramburu and his friend and former teammate Shaun Hegarty, saying they believed they were in danger during a fight. Aramburu was 42, a father and a former player for Argentina’s Pumas and Biarritz Olympique. [1]
Le Priol’s former partner received a three-year sentence, with two and a half years suspended, for concealing evidence and altering a crime scene. Another man received a three-year suspended sentence for helping Bouvier flee briefly and dispose of his weapon. The convicted people and prosecutors have 10 days to appeal. [1]
