KLM cancelled 20 flights on Friday because of strong winds in the Netherlands and expected to cancel 22 more on Saturday, the airline told Reuters. Schiphol said disruption had so far been limited, with no other airlines cancelling flights for the same reason.
The Dutch weather service had warned of gusts of 75 to 90 kilometres per hour in parts of the country on Friday and over the weekend. Schiphol typically handles more than 1,000 flights a day at this time of year, according to ANP.
