Hornbach’s total sales rose by more than 7% to €1.8bn in June, July and August, ANP reported. Sales for the first half of its financial year increased by 6% to €3.8bn. Both figures cover the retailer as a whole, not just its Dutch business. [1]
Hornbach said the hot, dry summer lifted demand for products that help customers stay cool. Evert de Goede, managing director of Hornbach Netherlands, said the warm weather also contributed to the company’s performance in the Netherlands. [1]
De Goede said customers bought more air conditioners, fans and sunshades than usual, while the dry conditions also drove demand for garden-watering products. [1]
