An Amsterdam court has rejected a studio owner’s claim for further royalties from Loona’s cover of ‘Vamos a la Playa’, Nieuws.nl reports.
Loona recorded the cover at Martijn de Vries’s studio in 2010. De Vries later sought a share of the song’s income under an agreement they made that June. According to Nieuws.nl, the Amsterdam court found that the agreement ended in 2011, the deadline for claiming money under it had passed, and no later royalty agreement had been established. [1]
The court also said De Vries had not explained why copyright would entitle him to more than the royalties he received in 2010 and 2011. It rejected all his claims and ordered him to pay Loona’s legal costs. [1]
