Feyenoord coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst said his side deserved a draw after losing 1-0 to Real Betis in the Champions League, with Isco’s penalty deciding the match in Seville.
The spot-kick came after an hour, following a handball by Jerry St. Juste. Feyenoord’s best first-half chance fell to Gjivai Zechiël, who missed it.
“We were disappointed,” Van Bronckhorst told Ziggo Sport. “You can’t be happy when you lose. We wanted more, and Zechiël had the best chance. We were on top in the second half, but they scored from a penalty. We did everything we could to get a result.”
He said a draw would have been deserved, but added that Champions League matches are decided by fine margins.
