Pathé Thuis has taken its website and apps offline temporarily as a precaution over a security issue in the PHP programming language, the streaming service said on Wednesday. It is following advice from the Netherlands’ National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), according to the company.
The service did not say when it would be available again. A spokesperson said Pathé Thuis was doing everything it could to restore the site and apps as soon as possible.
PHP is widely used for websites, and the PHP Foundation has said it has seen no signs that previously identified vulnerabilities in the language are being actively exploited. That statement does not establish whether Pathé Thuis’s systems were affected by those vulnerabilities; the company’s announcement does not give further details about the security issue.
