Jools Oliver discusses ADHD and autism diagnoses

Jools Oliver has spoken about being diagnosed with ADHD and autism, saying ADHD had made much of her life “exhausting and very hard”. The wife of British chef Jamie Oliver discussed the diagnoses on the podcast *Lessons From Our Mothers*.

Oliver, 51, said she was diagnosed with ADHD about four years ago. She later sought an autism assessment after some of her five children received the same diagnosis, according to Nieuws.nl.

She said she had been prescribed ADHD medication but had not yet felt able to take it because she was worried about possible health problems. She also described finding social situations difficult, saying she had spent years acting as though she were more outgoing than she felt.

Oliver said the diagnoses had helped her understand herself and her children better. Jamie Oliver had said the previous year that his wife was neurodivergent, but had not specified her diagnoses.
