Volodymyr Zelensky and Péter Magyar said they want to improve Ukrainian-Hungarian ties after meeting on the sidelines of an EU leaders’ summit in Brussels.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said they had a constructive meeting in Brussels on Friday, with both signalling an interest in improving relations between their countries. The talks took place on the sidelines of a summit of EU leaders. [1]
“We are getting closer, which is very important,” Zelensky said. Magyar said the two had agreed that renewing political and economic ties was in both countries’ interests. [1]
Magyar also said Hungary was ready to use diplomatic means to help secure a ceasefire and lasting peace. He said he had assured Zelensky of Hungary’s solidarity over what he called Russia’s “inhuman aggression” against Ukraine. [1]
Magyar has said he wants closer relations with Kyiv than his predecessor, Viktor Orbán, whose government maintained close ties with Russia. [1]
