Carpiuc was convicted over fires targeting a car and two homes linked to the former prime minister. His deportation does not resolve who directed the attacks.

The Home Office says it has deported Stanislav Carpiuc, who was jailed for his role in a series of arson attacks on property linked to Sir Keir Starmer. It did not say where he was sent. The Independent reports that his deportation carries a ban on re-entering the UK. [1] [4]
The fires, set in May 2025 while Starmer was prime minister, targeted a car he had previously owned and two homes connected to him. Carpiuc was sentenced to two years in prison in June 2026 after being convicted of conspiracy to damage property by fire. Roman Lavrynovych received a seven-year sentence. [1] [2] [3]
Carpiuc’s conviction did not mean he personally lit the fires. Prosecutors said Lavrynovych set all three, while Carpiuc helped coordinate the plot, including payment arrangements. [2]
The BBC says its investigation linked the attacks to the Russian state. That was not a finding established by Carpiuc’s conviction: the identity of the Russian-speaking figure said to have directed Lavrynovych was not revealed at trial, according to the Associated Press, and that person was not charged. Prosecutors said their case did not depend on proving a political motive. [1] [2] [3]
