Arsenal beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, ending a wait of more than a decade for a Premier League win there, with Declan Rice setting up Kai Havertz’s first-half goal.
A BBC Sport player-rating report gave Rice an 8 out of 10, the joint-highest mark for Arsenal, after describing his energy in midfield as central to the visitors’ performance. Defenders Ezri Konsa, Gabriel Magalhães and Riccardo Calafiori also received 8s.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was rated 4 after a poor pass led to Havertz’s goal. The report noted that he later made an excellent save to deny Christos Tzolis, who was rated 6. Havertz received a 7 for scoring the decisive goal.
Liverpool’s highest-rated player was Bradley Barcola, with 7. The report said he caused problems down the left, while Florian Wirtz also struck the crossbar with a free-kick. Liverpool had further chances: Alexis Mac Allister was unable to convert Milos Kerkez’s cross, and the report said Alexander Isak was unlucky not to win a penalty after his shirt was pulled.
Rice also scored a late equaliser in Arsenal’s 2-2 Champions League draw at Bayern Munich in October, rescuing a point after the Gunners had fallen behind.
