The recommended price of petrol in the Netherlands fell below €2.50 a litre on Thursday, reaching its lowest level since early July as oil prices declined, ANP reported. UnitedConsumers put the average at €2.485, more than two cents below Wednesday’s figure.
The benchmark is down from €2.732 on 10 October, when Euro95 reached a record in UnitedConsumers’ series. That recommended price is based on averages of major oil companies’ prices and is generally charged at more expensive forecourts, including motorway service stations. Fuel is often cheaper elsewhere, so the figure is not an average of what motorists actually pay.
Diesel also fell, to €2.647 a litre, 18 cents below its mid-September record of €2.824. The recommended price of premium petrol (Euro98) has dropped by 25 cents in less than a month, to €2.698.
