Taika Waititi says his planned Star Wars film is “very much frozen”, putting the project on hold after he began developing it in 2020. The director told Inverse he is now working on four other films, though he has not ruled out returning to Star Wars in future. [1]
Waititi said he would continue working with screenwriter Tony McNamara, who joined the film’s team in 2025, but on a different project. The film’s story has remained largely undisclosed since Waititi announced it. [1]
Waititi previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. Asked about the prospect of making a Star Wars film later, he told Inverse: “Ice ages come to an end. Who knows?” [1]
