A Nieuws.nl review of the app-controlled DWARF mini telescope praises its portability and accessible controls, while warning that clouds and light pollution still limit what users can photograph.
Review information is loading.
The DWARF mini is a compact, app-controlled telescope designed to make astrophotography easier to try, but a review by Nieuws.nl says results still depend on clear skies, dark surroundings and time for images to build up.
Nieuws.nl tested the device, which weighs about 840 grams. Rather than looking through an eyepiece, users select a celestial object in a phone or tablet app; the telescope can then find and track it. Images are assembled from multiple exposures using a process known as stacking.
The review praises the telescope’s portability and straightforward controls, while noting that it offers a different experience from a traditional telescope. It is aimed at photographing wider areas of the sky, including nebulae and galaxies, rather than detailed close-ups of planets.
Cloud cover and light pollution remain obstacles, the review says. Bright skies can make faint objects harder to capture, and a clear night is not necessarily a dark one. Nieuws.nl also cautions that images supplied by DWARFLAB and featured in the article were made by photographers in the company’s community, not during the publication’s own test.
DWARFLAB provided the telescope and accessories for the review and a subsequent reader giveaway. Nieuws.nl says the prize is the tested review set, including a tripod and carry bag; details of the giveaway are to be published separately.
