The Dutch cabinet wants to put €123 million towards nature in the Brainport region, aiming to ease permit difficulties for projects around Eindhoven.
Review information is loading.
Agriculture minister Jaimi van Essen announced the proposed allocation during a visit to the Groene Woud near Liempde, according to Dutch news agency ANP. The cabinet wants to improve nature in the Brainport region around Eindhoven and make it easier to grant permits for economic projects facing nitrogen-related restrictions. [1]
A spokesperson for Van Essen told ANP that the €123 million would come from a €500 million fund for priority areas. The agriculture ministry says many plans linked to Project Beethoven, a multibillion-euro programme intended to support the microchip sector, need nature permits and are currently held up by that requirement. [1]
Many nature areas in the province of Brabant are burdened by excess nitrogen, ANP reports. How the proposed €123 million will be spent has not yet been specified. [1]
