Writing a day after Paulien Cornelisse’s death, her husband recalled her column-writing routine and the family memories preserved in her work.

Chris Bajema has written a column for de Volkskrant about the writing of his wife, Paulien Cornelisse, who died in Amsterdam on Wednesday aged 50. Published on Thursday and titled *Pyjama*, it recalls how she wrote her columns in pyjamas on a bench in her study, a habit Bajema said began during the coronavirus pandemic. [1]
Bajema also reflected on *In het kort*, a collection of Cornelisse’s short pieces about daily life. He said he realised only after its publication that the collection was a diary of their family life. He now sees it as a gift. Cornelisse wrote a weekly column for NRC for years and later also wrote for de Volkskrant. She announced in 2024 that she was ill. [1]
