An AFP correspondent reported hearing loud explosions in Sanaa on Thursday evening, and AFP said its footage showed large plumes of smoke above the Houthi-held city. Al-Araby al-Jadeed separately cited residents who heard a series of explosions and saw flames rising from Jabal al-Nahdain. [2] [5]
The Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency blamed a Saudi attack for strikes on Sanaa and three other governorates. Separately, a spokesman for the internationally recognised Yemeni government’s armed forces claimed a targeting operation in Sanaa, but did not say when it took place or identify what was hit there. His figures of 11 targets in Saada and 27 airstrikes in Taiz do not describe the explosions in Sanaa. [3] [4]
The extent of any damage in Sanaa and whether anyone was hurt remain unclear. Reuters reported no immediate Saudi confirmation of the reported strikes. [6]
