Shane Richie was given a six-month driving ban on 23 September after admitting a speeding offence in Reigate, Surrey. BBC News reported the ban, citing court records. [1]
A camera recorded the 62-year-old EastEnders actor, whose real name is Shane Roche, driving a Ford at 35mph on Reigate Hill on 15 March — five miles over the limit. Guildford Magistrates’ Court also fined him £500 and ordered him to pay £320 in costs and a surcharge. [1]
In a note to the court, Richie said photographers had pursued him amid his divorce. He said that might explain why he sped up on that road, but was not an excuse for speeding. [1]
Richie has denied a separate drink-driving charge relating to an alleged incident at a petrol station in Harlow. His trial is scheduled for 17 November 2027. [1]
