Paris police have extended a night-time curfew in parts of the city for a third consecutive night after demonstrations against government policy over the weekend led to rioting and looting in some areas.
The curfew runs from 11pm on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday. Place de la République, in eastern Paris, and Les Halles in the city centre will be off limits during those hours, according to a report by ANP, AFP and Reuters carried by Nieuws.nl.
Police have also banned unnotified public gatherings from 8pm near the presidential palace, the National Assembly and Senate buildings, and the Champs-Élysées.
On Tuesday, Paris police said on X that the curfew imposed for that night could be extended for as long as necessary.
