Queen Máxima has urged Dutch municipal leaders to give volunteer-led initiatives more trust and room to work in their own way.

Speaking at the annual congress of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) in Lichtenvoorde on Tuesday, Máxima said many thousands of social initiatives across the Netherlands depend on committed volunteers. She argued that their work strengthens community ties, counters exclusion and helps build mental resilience. Her remarks were reported by Nieuws.nl. [1]
