Dutch opposition leader Mirjam Bikker said there was enough common ground to continue budget talks after meeting Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Finance Minister Eelco Heinen on Saturday morning. But nothing concrete was yet on paper, she said. [1]
Bikker, who leads the ChristenUnie party, said the government had listened well to the opposition during the meeting, which lasted just over an hour. Jetten had said on Friday that there was a new budget proposal. Bikker said she expected a letter setting out a concrete offer before the general financial debates in parliament. [1]
ANP reported that Bikker appeared to hint at a possible way forward on box 3, the tax on income from assets. She declined to discuss what it might involve. [1]
Jetten and Heinen gave no details after the meeting. The prime minister described the conversation as very pleasant and said its length was a good sign; Bikker said the broad outlines offered a basis for further talks. [1]
