VVD leader Dilan Yesilgöz said she wants to head the Dutch party’s candidate list again at the next election. Asked by NOS whether she would be its next lead candidate, she answered yes after a VVD meeting in Veghel, according to an ANP report published by Nieuws.nl. The ANP report does not specify which election she meant, and her answer was a statement of intent rather than a formal nomination. [1]
About 150 critical VVD members from North Brabant attended the meeting. Yesilgöz said it had gone very well. She also said she disliked criticism directed at her within the party. The report linked the criticism to the VVD’s poor standing in the polls. Yesilgöz added that such criticism had always existed. [1]
Yesilgöz also said the VVD wanted to cooperate with Pro in future, but only if the right-wing party JA21 also took part in that cooperation. [1]
