At least two people have been killed after a rock formation collapsed at the Göreme Open Air Museum in Turkey’s Cappadocia region, according to local media cited by the BBC. A search and rescue operation is under way, with ambulances and rescue teams sent to the site.
The collapse happened on Thursday at the popular tourist attraction, which is known for its distinctive formations called “fairy chimneys”. The cause was not immediately known. Local media reported heavy rain in the region, but no link between the weather and the collapse has been established.
