Luisa Santos stabbed Pritchett, then 18, during a waitressing shift at the Three Horseshoes pub in Princethorpe, Warwickshire, in May 2022. Santos was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison that October. [1]
Santos was released in January 2026 after serving three years and eight months, then deported under the Early Removal Scheme. The scheme allows eligible foreign-national prisoners in England and Wales to leave prison early for deportation. Pritchett was not informed until June. [1]
Pritchett told BBC News the delay made her feel like an “afterthought” and left her feeling let down by the justice system. The Ministry of Justice told the BBC that an administrative error had occurred and that the matter had been escalated within its Victims Liaison Unit and the prison. [1]
The ministry said it aims to contact victims as soon as information is available and is committed to improving its service. Its spokesperson said people deported under the Early Removal Scheme are banned from returning to the UK. [1]
