The AfD acknowledges a September breach, but the origin and extent of a purported collection of party emails posted online remain unclear.

AI-generated summaries of emails purportedly linked to Germany’s far-right AfD have appeared on a website, Bild reports. The party says a hosting provider was hacked in September, but it has not established whether the online material came from that attack. [1]
An AfD spokesperson told Bild that parts of a few mailboxes appeared to have been copied during the breach. Most had not been used for years, the spokesperson said, and current email accounts of the party’s national organisation were not affected. B.Z. said it had seen an internal AfD message to regional branches stating that the party was still assessing the authenticity and scale of the online material. [1] [2]
Bild put the claimed size of the collection at 421,179 emails and 281 gigabytes. That is not a verified count of authentic AfD messages or of material made publicly readable. The news agency ANP, in a report published by Nieuws.nl, described the website’s posts as AI-generated summaries rather than the emails themselves. Bild also said a very limited look at the material showed images of identity documents, bills, bank statements and local AfD membership records. It remains unclear which original messages or attachments visitors to the website could access. [1] [3]
