Arsenal will appeal against Max Dowman’s straight red card in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Fleetwood, after the 16-year-old midfielder was sent off in the 85th minute. The appeal comes after Arsenal were knocked out by the League Two side on penalties.
Dowman was dismissed after reacting to a heavy challenge by Fleetwood’s Harrison Neal. His foot made contact with Neal, although he did not fully kick out, BBC Sport reported.
The match finished 1-1 before Fleetwood won the shootout 5-3. Dowman had also been sent off earlier this month while playing for England Under-19s.
