Trump said on Saturday that he had rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end fighting in the Middle East. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said any move to reopen the waterway depended on Iran’s conditions being met. [2] [3]
Iran’s proposed plan called for a seven-day halt to hostilities across the region, including Lebanon. It also sought the release of frozen Iranian assets, the lifting of sanctions on Iranian oil and an end to the US naval blockade of Iran. Under the proposal, Iran would reopen the strait on the seventh day if the necessary conditions were met. [4]
