BMW plans to cut management positions next year to save costs, with further reductions proposed in the layers below management.

BMW plans to cut 20% of its management positions in 2027 as part of a drive to reduce costs, Dutch news agency ANP reported. The carmaker expects artificial intelligence to take on tasks currently performed by managers and says the changes would make it more agile. [1]
BMW also wants to shrink some divisions, with roughly one-fifth of positions in the layers below management set to disappear. BMW executive Milan Nedeljkovic said the company was changing its structure and costs to prepare for stronger competition in the coming years. [1]
In July, BMW reached an agreement covering the reduction of 8,000 office positions in Germany. It is unclear whether any of those positions are included in the newly reported plans. [1]
