Transavia is preparing a large-scale cost-cutting programme to improve profits, a spokesperson for the Dutch airline has confirmed. No specific measures have been decided, and it is not yet known whether jobs will be cut. [1]
The airline says it has made insufficient profit in recent years, citing high costs and growing competition. Its spokesperson said its margin was 1% over the past year; Transavia wants to raise that to at least 8% on a lasting basis. An ANP report said the higher margin would be needed to keep the business financially healthy and fund fleet renewal. [1]
Transavia Netherlands is also considering closer cooperation with Transavia France and within the Air France-KLM group. [1]
