Police arrested the 26-year-old from Helmond on Tuesday, 6 October, in Horst, in the Dutch province of Limburg. The arrest followed new information in the investigation, according to ANP. [1]
The fire began when an explosive device went off at a home on Moreelselaan in Eindhoven. A boy who was 16 at the time was asleep on a sofa inside and suffered very serious injuries. Other residents escaped. [1]
Police identified two suspects early in the investigation, ANP reports. The first was arrested a few months later and convicted in 2021 of multiple counts of attempted murder. He admitted carrying out the attack with fireworks and petrol and had been in a dispute with the victim. That conviction concerns the earlier suspect, not the man arrested on Tuesday. [1]
A €10,000 reward had been offered for a tip leading to the second suspect. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service will assess whether a tipster is entitled to it. [1]
