Interior Minister Heerma informed the Dutch parliament on 28 September of plans for the Community Fund, with €200 million available to support community initiatives. Foundations and associations are expected to be able to apply for grants several times a year from 2027 to 2031, with help available to applicants. [1]
Heerma wants the fund to strengthen communities and co-operation between businesses, civic groups and government. He also aims to simplify rules and reduce administrative work for volunteers and community initiatives. [1]
The government and its partners also plan to review the state’s role in supporting communities during the scheme’s five-year run. [1]
