A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 47-year-old woman died following a car crash in Bridgend, South Wales. Police say her injuries were unrelated to the crash. [1]
The woman, from North Cornelly, crashed into a wall on Coity Road at about 12:43 BST on Monday, South Wales Police said. Armed officers later arrested the man at Ger-y-Nant, a nearby sheltered housing complex for people over 60.
A cordon remained around the 13-flat complex, with police vehicles and officers at the scene. Chief Superintendent Jason Rees called the incident “deeply distressing” and said local residents’ support had helped lead to an arrest, with no further injuries sustained. He thanked people displaced from their homes overnight and said police were supporting them to return.
Resident Darren Owen said he saw police bringing a man out of the building at about 01:00. Another resident, Muhammed Bobalazi, said a police cordon had initially prevented him from getting home.
