Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and his wife, Jane Ittogi, began a multi-day state visit to Sweden on Monday, where they were welcomed at Stockholm’s Royal Palace by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. The visit marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. [1]
The Singaporean party includes a government delegation and business representatives. After the welcome ceremony, Tharman was due to meet Swedish Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlén. Queen Silvia and Ittogi were scheduled to visit the National Museum to see an exhibition on ceramics, with a state banquet planned at the palace on Monday evening. [1]
