Two arrested after Waterford fire kills four family members

Gardaí have arrested two people in connection with a suspected arson attack in Waterford that killed a couple and two of their children, while two other children remain critically ill in hospital.[1]

A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s are being held at a Garda station in the east of Ireland, police said. Kim and Philip English and their children Jayden, nine, and Callum, 12, died after a fire at their home on Birch Avenue on Tuesday.[1]

The two surviving children were also in the house and are being treated in Crumlin, Dublin. Post-mortem examinations have been carried out on the four people who died, but the results are being withheld for “operational reasons”, according to the report.[1]

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward, describing the incident as a “murderous attack”.[1]
