CCTV footage released by the BBC appears to show armed men approaching a church in Jordan shortly before gunmen opened fire during a funeral, killing seven people.
The attack took place on Friday at a Greek Orthodox church in Karak. The BBC says at least 34 people were injured, while the Associated Press reported 40 wounded, citing authorities. The totals differ between reports. A previous report on the shooting said Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour gave the figure of 40 wounded.
The BBC’s video report says the unidentified gunmen arrived by car, fired inside the church and fled. The Associated Press, citing footage broadcast on Jordanian state television, said three armed men approached and opened fire; it reported that the number of attackers had not been independently verified.
Jordan’s government said the assailants were unknown and that an investigation was under way. Petra, the state news agency, reported that police were pursuing suspects. The reports do not establish whether anyone has since been arrested.
