The Republic of Ireland delayed its news conference and training before a Nations League fixture against Israel that has drawn boycott calls.

The Republic of Ireland postponed its pre-match news conference on Saturday morning, then delayed training too, ahead of Sunday’s Nations League match against Israel in Hungary. A Uefa official initially told waiting reporters that the 09:15 BST briefing would take place after training, but later said training had also been postponed. No new time was given for either event. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side are scheduled to play Israel in Debrecen at 19:45 BST on Sunday, with a return match in Backa Topola, Serbia, on 4 October. The fixtures have prompted boycott calls from Irish Sport for Palestine’s “Stop The Game” campaign, backed by former manager Brian Kerr and former international James McClean.
