A painting by Herman Brood has become the first work by the late Dutch artist to enter the Dutch state’s art collection. The untitled painting was presented on Thursday at the Collection Centre Netherlands in Amersfoort, according to the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.
The brightly coloured work previously hung at the Tax Administration. The Valsbrood Foundation confirmed its authenticity before it was moved to Amersfoort.
Brood, who died in 2001, began his music career in the 1960s and became increasingly active as a painter in the late 1980s. He used mainly primary colours because he was colour-blind.
