*Big Little Lies* has resumed filming for a single day, seven years after its second season, to retain a California tax benefit, according to Dutch outlet Nieuws.nl, citing *Variety*.
A few scenes were filmed on Thursday at a Warner Bros. studio, with Merrin Dungey appearing as detective Adrienne Quinlan. The production was awarded a tax benefit by California and had to begin filming within 180 days of the award to remain eligible, Nieuws.nl reported.
Filming is not expected to continue for now. Full production is expected to begin in early 2027, with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz due to return.
The series, set in Monterey, California, premiered in 2017. Its second season was released in 2019. The earlier first scenes filmed for season three were reported to feature Dungey, while the main cast was not expected to begin filming until 2027.
