The Dutch food safety regulator, the NVWA, found violations at 96 of 154 hospitality venues it inspected in July and August 2026, ANP reported. The checks took place on days when temperatures reached at least 20°C, at sites including beaches, recreational lakes, campsites, playgrounds and outdoor pools. The figure is about 62% of the venues inspected, not a rate for Dutch hospitality as a whole. [1]
Problems included inadequate measures against flies in kitchens and food being stored or prepared at the wrong temperature. [1]
Inspectors drew up reports on eight businesses with serious violations; a fine or another measure could follow. Other businesses found in breach received formal warnings. The NVWA also says it has encountered flies at hospitality businesses increasingly often in recent summers. [1]
