Mitchel van den Brink and navigator Bart van Heun recovered from two punctures to finish third at the Baja Portalegre in Portugal, taking maximum points in the World Baja Cup’s Challenger class, according to Nieuws.nl [1].
The Eurol Rallysport pair lost time on the first of the final day’s two stages. With their spare tyres used up, they had to drive cautiously and dropped to seventh overall. They made up four places on the closing stage in their Can-Am Challenger.
The result strengthens their lead in the Challenger-class standings. They are second in the overall World Baja Cup standings, with two rounds remaining: Qatar and Dubai. Van den Brink said the team hoped to challenge for the overall lead in those races [1].
