Editorial Standards

Hugo van Duijnen is Editor-in-Chief and has final responsibility for the editorial framework, standards and correction procedures.

Claims must be grounded in identifiable sources. We prefer primary evidence and assess whether sources are independent; repetition does not establish corroboration.

Facts, analysis, opinion and uncertainty must remain distinguishable. Headlines must reflect the evidence. Material contrary evidence and limitations belong in the article.

Serious allegations require particular attention to evidence, attribution, counterevidence and wording. Automated checks do not guarantee that every risk is detected.

Commercial interests, payments and popularity must not determine factual conclusions or corrections. Source links and substantive publication changes remain available for inspection.
